Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan is the fastest growing academic and research institution. Universities are becoming more entrepreneurial and looking toward technology transfer into the non-traditional fields. There is a need for alternative conceptualizations of technology transfer that are more accurate and realistic than the traditional linear models. B. Z. University is making tremendous contribution to the education system of Southern Punjab. University strives to achieve academic excellence through continuous improvement in its teaching and research by providing faculty and students with an environment conducive for creation, dissemination, and assimilation of knowledge. At BZU, we place great emphasis on optimal usage of the available resources without compromising on quality. Our programs and activities are not only structured to address the socio-economic needs of the region but also have a modern orientation so that our graduates and faculty can compete internationally. The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) is established to link research of the University with emerging and existing firms across Pakistan and later around the world. ORIC-BZU is trying to develop research canvas as per the educational, social, and economic priorities of the country for the benefits of community. The main purpose of ORIC is to develop, expand, enhance, and manage the University’s research programs in a way that they handle the local/national problems for their possible solutions. The recent focus has been placed on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) wherein faculty would be stressed to address the areas of research mentioned therein. ORIC-BZU is also ensuring that the quality of research reflects the highest international standards and advances the stature of university among the world’s best research institutions. ORIC-BZU has developed its mechanism for research commercialization with local industries of Southern Punjab and has established Business Incubator Center at BZU in collaboration with Regional Plan 9. I wish the ORIC and BZU the best of success.

It is believed that research and innovation are the crucial precursors of country’s development as they define its pace towards modernism in terms of technological growth. Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan Pakistan, keeping this overarching thought at its backdrop has remained resilient in playing its fundamental role in improving the technological sphere of Pakistan through its research activities and innovative approach. To lead in education today, it requires a passionate commitment and a deep research-based expertise. The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization at BZU Multan was formally established in 2014. This was a great step in integrating the overall university departments and institutes. The ORIC at BZU is starting to develop, enhance and administer research, and to link it with the educational, social, and economic priorities of the university and the public at large. ORIC-BZU is emphasizing on promoting research culture, motivating faculty, and students for submission of research projects that can result in raising the stature of university. I believe BZU will contribute its share towards the economic development of the country. ORIC-BZU is inviting all corporate and social sector to join hands with us for a better approach towards the development of HEIs. Resultantly, faculty can commercialize their research work in collaboration with the industry to develop a trust-worthy relationship. Industry can utilize huge resources available at BZU, like scientific instruments and the well-trained faculty and researchers to solve their problems and new technologies can thus be evolved. Regional and international organizations are also being welcomed to make joint programs for the benefit of the community in general. We are signing Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with various organizations to bring concrete research projects through the experts available at the university who have decades of experience in their specialized areas.
